Outdoor Wall Décor

Different Types Of Outdoor Wall Décor

When choosing outdoor décor to create a calm outdoor arena to relax and play, many individuals believe that choosing the décor stops after the furniture and any needed lighting is purchased. This is far from true. If the outdoor furniture is being placed on a porch or a deck, then many individuals like to add outdoor wall décor to the area to create a mini oasis in their outdoor environment. There are many different types of outdoor wall décor to choose from with the most popular types being thermometers, clocks, and wind chimes. The décor chosen should fit well with the furniture as well as reflecting the personal preferences of the homeowner.

Clocks

When choosing a clock for outdoor wall décor, there are a few items to keep in mind. The first and most important item is whether the clock is designed for outdoor use. Sometimes individuals choose traditional indoor clocks to be used as outdoor wall décor and are heartbroken when they find that the clock cannot withstand the ravages of nature. This is not as important when using the clock within a partially or totally enclosed patio, but can create difficulties if used on an exposed outside wall. The second thing to remember is to place the clock in a location where it can be easily wound, if required, or the batteries can easily be changed. There are newer clocks available for outdoor wall décor that do not need batteries or to be recharged, but these are typically a great deal more expensive than other models.

Wind Chimes

Another common type of outdoor wall décor obtained by many individuals is the wind chime. In fact, in many areas of the country, the wind chime is the most popular piece of outdoor décor purchased. There are literally thousands of wind chimes to choose from and they can be purchased to match virtually any décor. Wind chimes are made from a wide variety of materials, such as wood, copper, steel, glass, and in some cases, even incorporate stone into the designs. Wind chimes can also be colorful, sporting painted birds, fish, lighthouses, or sports teams to further personalize the décor to the homeowners that live in the home. For individuals that are having a difficult time finding a wind chime that they would like to use for their outdoor wall décor, there are plans available on the internet detailing how a homeowner can create their own wind chime from raw materials that can be purchased at any home improvement store.

Thermometers

The third common type of outdoor wall décor is the thermometer. Outdoor thermometers serve a purpose as well as being decorative, allowing individuals to obtain an accurate reading of the temperature in their neighborhood. Many outdoor thermometers also display the relative humidity and barometric pressure of the area as well. Whichever type of outdoor wall décor is chosen, the individual should choose items that reflect their individual personality and coordinate with the furniture that the individual has chosen.
